Trailer Winterization Checklist
Use our interactive checklist below, or download and print our comprehensive Dexter trailer service checklist.
Clean & Inspect
Wash the trailer with fresh water and detergent, especially boat trailers after use in salt or brackish water. A clean, dry trailer makes it easier to spot damage and helps prevent corrosion.
Wheels & Tires
Cold weather and prolonged storage can affect tire condition. Protect tires from moisture, sunlight, and long-term flat spots.
Hubs, Brakes & Suspension
Address signs of wear before storage so the trailer is ready to go when the season returns.
Hitch, Jack & Safety Equipment
Lubrication and weather protection help keep moving parts from binding during cold, damp conditions.
Interior & Storage
Keep moisture and pests out while allowing enough airflow to reduce condensation.
Tip: If you find structural damage, brake fluid leaks, heat-discolored hubs, or damaged electrical wiring, do not tow the trailer until it has been serviced.
